Educating the Confused – Devvy Kid

December 6, 2012

Devvy Kid: Muslims do not have a first amendment right to build mosques etc

“It says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

“Now consider the verbiage very carefully. A lot of lawmakers and most Americans make the exegetical error that the First Amendment grants us rights. The First Amendment doesn’t grant any rights to anybody. All it does is prohibit Congress from making laws about religion, speech, the press, or assembly.

“Therefore, Muslims do not have a First Amendment “Right” to build mosques, proselytize, and implement Sharia in our country.

Uh… Devvy… What part of “prohibiting the free exercise thereof” do you not understand?

Really, how can these people claim to understand the Constitution and yet be so clueless about its content and meaning? Hilarious… And she also appears to still be upset about President Obama winning a second term :-)

The US Constitution is a framework of our government, and the Bill of Rights is not a list of our rights. Our rights are human rights granted by the creator. The Bill of Rights is a set of restrictions placed on our government to protect our rights from infringement by the elected government. Congress can make laws restricting time, place and manner for the exercise of religion. That said, the USA was founded on Christian values. Muslim Islamic values contradict Christian values and Republican form of government, therefore Islam and Shariah Law should be banished from the USA by Congress. I predict that in 50 to 100 years the USA, as we know it today, will see a war between a majority Christian Mexican-Latino population and an emerging Muslim population.

ROTFL… You do live in a fantasy world. Thank God our Constitution was not written by you…

PS: How does it feel? 4 more years?

Another delusional wingnut who’d like the United States to become a theocracy.

And then the same wingnuts cry if Ruth Bader Ginsberg says she would not take the US Constitution as role model for any country wishing to implement a new constitution – they are providing the best example how fundamental rights can be abridged by some “clever” misinterpretation of the US Constitution. As in “it says we can not enact a law to prevent you from doing it, but it doesn’t say we have to allow you doing it, either”.

After all, “the Constitution does not create a right to…” is one of the right’s favourite arguments.

    > Congress can make laws restricting time, place and manner for the exercise of religion.

Only if it changes the Constitution: “Congress shall make no law [...] prohibiting the free exercise [of religion]” does not mean the opposite of what it actually says.

I am kind of intrigued by the practical issues involved in banning a religion. How would it work if Congress were to ban Islam? I guess that possession of the Koran would be outlawed. The FBI would have to try to seize all the copies that are out there and Customs would have to search all incoming shipments and passengers for illicit religious literature. Pretty much all web sites and Emails and tweets would have to be combed through for Islamic content. This would be a far more massive job than China blocking a few foreign web sites. Imagine how many agents would be needed and the costs involved. Not to mention that the vast majority of American who speak the languages spoken in the islamic world are, well, Muslims themselves.

And then banning mosques-what if they called it a cultural center or a social center? What if they disguised it as a Pakistani restaurant? Would Indian restaurants run by Hindus be allowed? Would Muslims meet in secret like Christians did in Rome or Jews in Spain during the Inquisition? Would we put people under torture to get them to confess to secret Muslim beliefs?

That would be one of the Amendments referred to in all of American history as “The Bill of Rights,” no?

Holy mackerel, right-wingers haven’t got two brain cells to rub together.

Wow. Just … wow. Would you like to show me the law telling the Catholic Church that they must celebrate Mass at a specific time, which language and liturgy they’re going to use, and that they must do it in a certain spot?

Helpful hint: You can’t. That’s because it would be struck down by every Federal court as being “unconstitutional.” Apparently, your inability to understand basic concepts knows no bounds.

    Borderraven:

Forget predictions. Your own words paint a sad picture of a paranoid, bigoted coward wetting his little bed over the inevitable changes the future always brings, but which decent human beings of strong heart invariably find ways to navigate. Enjoy your cramped, fearful, pitiful sense of the world. The rest of us will simply marvel at your exemplary display of the human capacity for self degradation.

    Something like this:

Evey Hammond: [gestures behind her] That wasn’t real… Is Gordon – ?

V: I’m sorry, but Mr. Deitrich’s dead. I thought they’d arrest him, but when they found a Koran in his house, they had him executed.

Even more strikingly, good birther “borderraven” cannot grasp the cognitive dissonance of claiming “the Obama administration wants to enslave us and take away our freedom by shredding the Constitution” and “I want to enslave Muslims and take away their freedom by shredding the Constitution” at the same time. Well, just like 100% of birthers.

Obviously, he must own the secret Original Constitution which has the additional “Article 0. The following only holds for Christian white males, all others be damned.”.

I’m not worried much about 4 more years of Obama, because we have 4 more years to impeach him. You should worry, considering recent revelations of a maternity hotel — in a mansion on Woodglen Drive, Chino Hills, CA — popular with wealthy Chinese, is producing natural born US citizens, raised in China, who can run for POTUS in 35 years.

I am glad that you accept that these women are producing natural born citizens…

    Finally some reason…

As to being worried? If a majority of the US people elect such a person to become their President, then I have no real worries. Do you?

Up above raven said, ” I predict that in 50 to 100 years the USA, as we know it today, will see a war between a majority Christian Mexican-Latino population and an emerging Muslim population.” Which side will these Chinese kids take in that war, being neither Christian/Latino nor Muslim? They could be the crucial decisive factor, so we really need to know.

  15. December 9, 2012 19:11

Yes, he does. They’re not real Americans, wich peopl like Borderraven define by pigmentation.

This whole “could become POTUS” is one of the most laughable things the bithers bring up. In their minds, “could” becomes “will.” They skip right past that whole thing about convincing a a majority of the citizenry that you are the right person for the job. But then, in their feverish delusions swamp, it has already happened with Obama. And the saddest thing is that thing cling to such an obviously stupid belief simply tio sustain their prejudices.

If a Chinese child is born on US soil, returns to his country, then spends 14 years in the United States and after reaching the age of 35 decides to run for the office of the President and win said office, then I see no problems here. Borderraven has no faith in his fellow people and is guided by fear and hatred. Fascinating specimen ;-)

As to 4 years to impeach… Good luck with that, that will never happen. Once he starts his second term, impeachment for precious ‘incidents’ will become much harder.

I’m not worried much about 4 more years of Obama, because we have 4 more years to impeach him.

Which is probably the only fantasy you’ve got left to cling to. It’s a fantasy, because there’s no way that you’re going to get 67 Senators to vote for it, but hey, if it makes you feel better, knock yourself out. It’s just like all those court cases that “any day now” were going to be wins.

But, hey, in 2017 President Obama will be ineligible to hold the office!

I predict in January, 2017, birthers will declare victory.
