I am coming to believe that the laws that allow non-candidates to challenge ballots are an invitation to foolishness. If you’re a bona fide candidate, you should have the right to challenge a competitor. If not, then your recourse is your vote.
Fans aren’t allowed on the baseball field or basketball court to challenge decisions by the umpire or referee. So, why let non-payers in an election challenge those who get off their butts, put a campaign together and run?
