Your Turn: Can’t understand the complacency on Obama birth November 8, 2009

The ContraCostaTimes.com has a guest commentary by Mike Postich

The only document he has made available is a Hawaiian Certification of Live Birth. This abbreviated form does not indicate the hospital where Obama was born, nor does it include the name of the attending physician or midwife. There is no official signature of any kind verifying its accuracy.

And yet, the document does not only have the raised seal but photographs reveal that the document is signed as well. Furthermore, the Department of Health in Hawaii has confirmed that Obama was born in Honolulu.

The form also has a revision date of November 2001 and is computer generated, which clearly demonstrates that it is not the original document of his birth.

What part of certification of live birth, which is prima facie evidence does Mike not understand?

Why is Mike refusing to acknowledge that the COLB is the official and only Birth Certificate of the State of Hawaii and that the document shows Obama born in Honolulu?

The Dept of Hawaii? You mean the Dept of Health of the State of Hawaii?

Here is what they said on July 28, 2009.

“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Hawai‛i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai‘i State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai‘i and is a natural-born American citizen. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago.”

Now, don’t you feel foolish?

An interesting sidelight on the author of this piece of nonsense, Mike Postich, who says he is a PhD scientist. I searched his name on PubMed, the NIH database of scientific publications, and was only able to find 1 paper he has authored, an article from 1998, in a so-so journal. Perhaps Dr Postich should be focussing more on his own publication of scholarly articles and less on the President’s.

The Dept of Hawaii has not confirmed that Obama was born there. They have only confirmed that they have his original birth certificate on file and in 1961 anyone from anywhere in the world could get a Hawaii birth certificate if they turned in the certificate from the country of their birth.

D.J. - November 9, 2009

Robyn,

If that is true, can you point to any example of a Hawaiian COLB issued to a person born in or after 1961 and not born in Hawaii?

So far, nobody has been able to come up with one.

No they can’t. Re read the Hawaii Law rather than parrot what you’ve been told – since what you were told is dead wrong. You should do some research before making yourself look like a total fool in a worldwide forum

They have in fact confirmed Obama’s birth in Honolulu.

Exploring the Natural Born Citizen Clause - November 9, 2009

The DOH has stated that President Obama was born in Honolulu. Furthermore, your statement about getting a birth certificate in Hawaii is false.
Two errors in a single paragraph. Don’t you feel a little bit silly?

“I … have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen,” she said in a brief statement. “I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago.”

Stanislaw - November 9, 2009

Robyn, other people have already printed this, but I’ll copy it again so you can see it for yourself, just in case you missed it the first couple of times:

“I … have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen,”

Alright robyn, make up some other nonsense so the rest of us can laugh at you. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
